Last month as part of Doc-Lab MontrĂȘal we presented our new project, the feature length documentary ‘Portrait of the Country as a Young Dog’ at this year’s @forumridm The jury gifted our project with a ‘Mention SpĂȘciale’ (way cooler in French obvs), which was hyfryd iawn and perhaps more likely for the idea and the work in progress material than my less than ecstatic public presentation of those things. Regardless, we’re stoked and had the most beautiful week with the finest group of filmmakers. Massive thanks to Anahi, Marie and the whole team @forumridm and @ridm_festival and our mentors @palvarezmesa , Madeline and Mila and especially to the filmmakers in our lovely group who shared the week with us. @annalemachado @monteirosartur @vidal.a.thais @zahraahooei @tzuan_wu @k_lamb_ Also big up your man @sionmwaters and @angela_clarkefilm and the team at @screenalliancewales for supporting us x

Hi. Some news that I’m sharing: Our new work-in-progress documentary film project, the unwieldily titled (and shamelessly plagiarised) ‘Portrait of the Country as a Young Dog’, has been selected for Doc Lab MontrĂ©al at this year’s @forumridm at @ridm_festival - Montreal International Documentary Festival. Which is very exciting. It’s film about Wales and filmmaking, a kind of anti-blockbuster and an attempt to create a legitimate and original People’s Cinema of Wales. Written and directed by the people, but shot by us. I guess I never thought this before but that sentence makes it sound kind of Varda-ish, which suddenly makes me feel more comfortable about making something so ambitious. We’re excited.  If it sounds like something you’d like, then hit me up, and I’ll tell you all about it. We would love your help. Oh yeah, it’s going to be a feature. For the cinema. Produced with my good friend and collaborator @k_lamb_ And shot with @sionmwaters Massive thanks to @angela_clarkefilm and the team at @screenalliancewales for the support. And to the fantastic team at @forumridm for selecting the project and guiding us. If you’re in MontrĂ©al for the festival, let me know. x
