If you asked us at @carolinegco to give you a Crash Davis-style rundown of our guitar beliefs, our preference for well-used, player-grade gear would surely be at the top of the list. I had the chance to buy this Klon Centaur last week and my absolute favorite thing about it is that it is exactly that.
For all the hype surrounding these pedals, the truth is that they were painstakingly designed and built to be used reliably, week in and week out for decades, like this one has. A “Professional” piece, made so the footswitch edges would get rounded off and the print would scratch and fade long before it ever stopped working. The magic of something so well-traveled is often that it was so good that it demanded to be played that heavily and loved that much by those who owned it.
We absolutely love it when one of our pedals comes back through our hands in this shape, and always hope that the new ones we send out will get there, too.
Philippe’s Manifold Drive was maybe the pedal I played most from the @carolinegco O.P.P. library over the years. always thought it was really special, with deeply pleasing dynamics. I finally picked up one of my own on Reverb last week and can confidently say that it absolutely holds up. I think a lot of this pedal’s legacy got tied up in a different product, but this little two-knob guy is a killer.
You said house show, right? Friday, May 31st. 7:00.
I’m excited for the triumphant return of Mike Mewborne. I haven’t seen him play (or played with him) since Covid.
My good friend Shaun Fox will be joining us to round things out and make it a great night.
See you there!
Snapped some photos of the 1482 last night and got it listed. Glad to have finally gotten my hands on one and spent some time with it. Closer to the 6G2 Princeton than I would’ve thought, but with a more lively and choppy tremolo. Also the first Silvertone I’ve ever had where the cabinet is completely intact and not ripping itself apart at the corners.
@theauricular is premiering the video for “I Saw A Ghost” by @gnawinggg today. We shot this during their tour with Fucked Up in April/May and I’m really pleased with how it came out. Used an old 5D Mark II with a technicolor picture profile for the look and shot it in SD to keep it fuzzy. Their new record is really great and is out now on @refreshrecs .
