i’m devistated to hear of the loss of a friend and legend maxi jazz. i sent max a cd of a beat i made specifically with him in mind whilst i was still a student at uni in leeds. after some chasing up i heard back from his manager that he didn’t want to do house music any more. i said that it’s not a house beat so i can only assume that he listened to it at the wrong tempo. i insisted that he had another listen as it was perfect for him. i then had a call back a few days later saying he loved it and wanted to record so just be ready as he might call at any moment. then suddenly one friday night months later i had the call that he’s written an entire song for the beat and wants to record tomorrow morning. rest was history.
