International Online Photography Collaboration From July 7 to 18, students from the Photography Program, Faculty of Arts of OCAD University (Canada) and the AB Photography, School of New Media Arts at Benilde (Philippines) explored Cultural Landscape — a geographical area shaped by the interaction between people and their environment, and holding cultural, historical, or community significance. Some photographic works depicted sites designed at specific moments in history, while others captured places that have evolved organically over generations. The collaboration concluded with a physical exhibition at the Great Hall, OCAD U. 🌏📸 #PhotographyCollab #CulturalLandscape #OCADU #Benilde #Photography #CrossCulturalExchange #VisualStorytelling

'Kaluguran Daka' is a series of still life photographs of flowers and fine art portraits. The work is rooted to aKapampangan (an Austronesian language spoken by the Kapampangan ethnic group) term which is a direct translation of “my beloved” in English. The art is a homage to the artist’s grandmother who has an intimate connection to her garden consist of different flowering plants, who would always remind him to talk to the plants because they need to be spoke to just like humans. AKIRA uses different lighting techniques to bring the enchantment of his grandmother’s story back to life. AKIRA would love to celebrate the life of his grandmother who is very dear to him, and as well as celebrating all Filipino households who love taking care of plants which is rooted in our culture. 📸 Akira Watanabe for Introduction to Photography Class

Familiar senseless messages by AB Photo student Ms. Toni Rose Guinto After a long period of sleepless nights, there comes a time when one would find themselves finally falling fast asleep. If they’re lucky, it’d be something that makes up for their restlessness. If not, their minds would walk the astral plane and see strange creatures in their head that will either scare or intrigue them. Sometimes both. But these creatures are mostly harmless. They’re just messengers. Familiar senseless messages is a mini photo series about the artist’s personal state of mind when she’s lucid dreaming after a long period of insomnia. #benilde #benildephoto #contemporary #conceptual #dreams #lucid #photography
