Hi all! It’s been a while, so I thought I’d reintroduce myself! I’m Tran (like Megatron or Tron the movie)! Outside of teaching all things bendy, I’m a full-time biomedical engineering student and mom to the cutest (and wildest) toddler, in my humble opinion :P My circus journey started with aerial silks, which quickly spiraled into contortion, duo lyra, rope, straps, and German wheel. #IYKYK I began training in my early 20s and have since become passionate about helping people train smarter, safer, and more sustainably for their unique bodies. While working on middle splits in group class, I saw an opportunity to add a band for feedback and tension! Not sure if it this is inception from something I might have seen scrolling social, but it definitely was a really effective exercise to get shins parallel to one another and focus on hip position staying back a little! Anyways, LMK what you think if you try it You can do it with half froggy, too, with the same setup!

April Class Themes are live! All levels welcomed as progressions are provided for all. Ex. you don't need a flat split to come to the oversplits class, nor do you need to be able to balance a handstand to take the bendy balances class :) Recordings are available for all classes for viewing up to 30days after the class takes place. If you can't attend live, you can also purchase the recording only!

At this point, I think everyone knows the importance of square splits and that the back hip needs to square 😁 BUT is that front leg internally rotated and reaching forward in your stretches like in this video? One cue that I've been drilling in classes is to essentially sit the front hip down and back. This gets the outer hamstring a much better stretch, prevents the body from compensating and twisting, and can ultimately change how a stretch feels. @missinkblot has a detailed blog with more specifics like TFL and QL compensations and proper use of hamstring in lunges - check it out!

March Contortion schedule is liiiiiiive! Fun/weird fact: Arizona does not participate in daylight savings. That means class times stays 5pm AZ but your time may shift. BEFORE daylight savings it will be 4pm PT/7pm ET and AFTER daylight savings starts it will be 5pm PT/8pm ET. International folks, please double-check your time against Arizona (MST) so you don't accidentally show up an hour early doing splits by yourself :P Register for classes on bendyeducator.com/classes!

Can you kick up without knocking the blocks down?! Sometimes it’s not your kick pulling you down it’s your shoulders!  If you knock the blocks over then fix your stack, keep weight centered over hands and knuckles! Blocks stay up but you can't get straight up? Time to callibrate the kick!
