Hey you lovely BENDERS 👋
I’m Patrick (
@hatemoss_lovepatrick ). I run BEND. With it being a new year, it felt like a good moment to properly introduce myself and say a bit about what BEND is (and what it isn’t).
After having a lot of fun running a previous fruity club night, I wanted BEND to be something a little different. Not better, just different. More inclusive, more open, and something that feels genuinely shared rather than owned by one person.
It’s not a money-making venture (full transparency: DJs are paid and I try to cover costs where I can). Mostly, it’s about creating a space where queers can dance unselfconsciously and safely together to music we love. Pop, disco, house, electro, R&B and everything in between. Because let’s be honest, queer dancefloors have always had the best music.
There’s no big agenda, just a feeling that, with the world as it is, spaces like this matter more than ever. And it’s very much here to complement Bristol’s already mighty queer scene. Huge love to
@clubdtym ,
@queerky._ @bootybassdj ,
@peoplelikeusdj ,
@punka_bristol @_cottage_club and all the other grassroots nights I’ve inevitably forgotten. Promoting queer nights is no joke 🖤
In the background, I’d also love BEND to do a bit of good. There’s an option to donate to Medical Aid for Palestine when buying tickets, and I’ll also be giving a proportion of any profits (when there are any!). So far that’s raised just over £400. Thank you.
Looking ahead, I want BEND to grow, but not alone. I’m very aware I’m a cis, white, able-bodied gay man bringing one set of lived experience, so if you’re queer and fancy getting involved - DJing, promoting, designing or throwing ideas around. DM me!
Next BEND is on Valentine’s Day 💘

See you on the dancefloor,
