We are glad to introduce Benjamin Castelazo. He’s a visual artist and one of the selected artists from the Open Call: Boundless Contemporary.
His photographic practice emerges from close observation of the city and its states of transition. Through projects like Pandemic Landscapes, he explores presence and absence, movement and silence, and uses the street as both stage and mirror to reflect on identity, time, and the ways we inhabit spaces. His work constructs layered, contemplative narratives that invite reflection rather than explanation.

Hey everyone, @hectorfaya_ here, wrapping up our three-part series on talented street photographers from Mexico. For this final post, I want to introduce you to Benjamín Castelazo, a photographer who caught my attention early on as I began exploring my main references in Mexican street photography.
What stands out about Benjamín’s work is his striking use of saturated colors and his masterful play with light and shadows to create bold contrasts. His photos invite the viewer’s imagination to wander, drawing out the vibrant hues and dynamic textures that are so deeply embedded in the streets of Mexico’s cities. Benjamín’s ability to harness these elements makes each image a vivid and intense experience that captures the essence of the human experience.
In Benjamín’s own words: “Street photography is much more than just capturing images in urban settings. For me, it represents a unique form of artistic expression that immerses me in the vibrant reality of contemporary society. Through my lens, I have the opportunity to document fleeting moments, capturing the very essence of everyday life from a personal and creative perspective.”
Stay tuned to Street Avengers for more incredible work from photographers who see the streets through a different lens, and thank you for joining me on this journey through the streets of Mexico!
