PSA: The restaurant I work at,
@quanto_basta_maine is closing at the end of the month.
If you haven’t had this amazing sourdough pizza yet, do yourself a favor and make the time to come in ASAP. It’s your last chance to have my Bayleaf & Seamoss Martini!
Also, I am going to Vermont for an art residency on the 19th, so you only have 2 weeks of service to see me there. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday this week, probably same next week.
So proud of Betsy for being brave enough to walk away. Love this little pizza family, what we created has been a home away from home for many, and the most fun work environment ever! One of my favorite things about Quanto Basta has been our guests, and feeling like I am serving people who live here, being part of our community in a meaningful way. It has been an extroverted counterbalance to my introverted studio time, so having my paintings at QB has been a wonderful synchronicity.
Working in hospitality pays the studio rent, and that work is an ephemeral experience. The paintings I make are about time and memory and the structures we humans create to capture ephemeral moments, but as objects they exist in a more permanent state than any of this… Not sure where I am going here, except that there is a duality or irony in the existence of artists and their art, and impermanence of things?
Sorry to monetize this sad occasion, but if you ever wanted to buy some of my art, now is the time!
