URBEX

message from the director:
URBEX is my goodbye to high school filmmaking. It was written and shot in the summer of 2024, with editing and reshooting occurring throughout my 2024-2025 school year. We embraced filming in locations without permission, sporadic and spontaneous shooting times, using unlicensed music, all these things I knew I would likely no longer be able to do in the professional filmmaking world. I wanted the way the film was made to reflect what the characters’ experience was, and to stay true to their place in time. On top of all this, having a one-person crew made this a messy and ambitious project, which I think you’ll be able to see in the final creation. Still I take it as a learning experience, and I’m glad I made it the way I made it. I’m very thankful to the cast for bearing with me and encouraging me throughout the whole process.
I am incredibly excited to be able to finally release this film, and I hope you enjoy. While this may mark the end of my high school filmmaking career, I don’t intend to leave this story and these characters behind.
