My Dad, Mike, passed away last week between Christmas and New Year. God he was talented, funny, and so loved. A truly brilliant cartoonist, my best mate and a Dad like no other.
Thanks so much for all the messages.
Not on your bumbaleerio!
Travelled to Aberdeen for an overdue catch up with my wonderful Podcast Coach comrades. Spot a wild Heart team on their epic Make Some Noise challenge.
Good luck with the rest of the week Grado!
1. It doesnāt matter how good your content is, if the sound quality is poor, no one is going to keep listening.
2. Youāre only ever speaking to one person - your listener. Donāt say things like āhello everybodyā.
3. Edit your audio. Cut out waffle and (most) āumsā and āersā.
4. Get to the point quickly. You only have seconds to grab the listenerās attention.
5. Make sure your audio levels are consistent.
6. If you have a guest on your podcast make sure they sound good too, send them a microphone if you have to.
7. Smile when you speak, it comes across in your voice.
8. Think about what your audience will get from listening. This could be something they learn, marvel at, laugh at or understand - but there needs to be some value.
Get in touch if youāre thinking about starting a podcast or would like an evaluation on one you already have.
I started @thisisheart in Swindon in 2013 and even then the big goal for the brand was to beat Radio 2. Fast forward 12 years and the best team in radio have built an audience across the brand that as of today beats Radio 2. Incredible.
Hereās @pandorapresenter and I celebrating a couple weeks ago, we must have had a premonition š
