I’m just heading home after an amazing weekend supporting @repgabevasquez and his efforts to protect the Gila River. He’s introducing legislation to designate the last free flowing river in New Mexico as a Wild and Scenic River. There are still champions of our public lands doing amazing work! Huge thanks also to @openspacebrewing for hosting us!
I’m absolutely devastated. This morning President Trump erased years of hard work, from environmental groups and tribal coalitions. He wiped out both the Chuckwalla National Monument and the Sáttítla Highlands National Monument. And perhaps even worse, he did it out of spite and not policy reasons.
It’s a huge setback, and personally heart wrenching. But it’s not the end of the line. We will continue the fight until it’s properly protected for future generations. Onward.
Back in DC, working on saving our public lands from being sold off and being exploited.
Two of my absolute favorite congresspeople pictured. @repraulruizmd and @repgabevasquez are absolute champions of their communities and their access to the wild spaces that are so important to them.
There are amazing people working for you, these are two of the best. ❤️
Bonus, I got to show Congressman Ruiz my Chuckwalla tattoo celebrating his success at designating the Chuckwalla National Monument!
I got to show Senator Padilla and Secretary of the Interior Deb Halaand my chuckwalla tattoo. They both led the amazing effort to successfully protect Chuckwalla National Monument! #chuckwalla #nationalparks #conservation
Spent the morning up in San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. This monument was recently expanded by President Biden, in part due to the awesome work of The Conservation Alliance and member companies like Flickr and Rivian!
