everyone says “the best day of your life is when your child is born”, but it’s not really true. at this age, every single day is heaven and somehow better than the last. each glimmer of her silly, sassy personality emerging as words turn to sentences (and conversations!) is nothing short of absolute magic.

ONE YEAR!!!🎈we’re supposed to write some grandiose thing about love and chaos and how absolutely bonkers it is that a person with Ben’s eyes and my lips just crawls through our house requesting a little suckle of milk but the truth is, there was a before, and now we are precisely 365 days into the after. it’s overwhelming and exhilarating and exhausting and relentless and yet it’s unequivocally the best thing that’s ever happened to either of us.
life can be stressful and yet everything — particularly the panic over being tossed into the full time job of parenthood as a first-time temp — disappears when she smiles. people were right: nothing matters as much as the tiny blob that is slowly growing into a kid as her personality emerges a bit more each day, like a surprise party that never ends.
the longest, hardest, wildest year of our lives is done, and what a reward to spend every moment possible with our mini me. happy birthday, pearlie 💕 forever our little slice of PZA 💕
