Announcing Disquiet and Misrule, opening May 1st in Cambridge. Featuring a film from @karendayehutchinson drawings and oils from @ben__varney watercolours from @helencook . This exhibition is a counterpoint to last year's Dynamics of Quietude, here we present disquiet in reaction to the spectacle.

My work came from a series called ‘Industry Sol’ titles: ‘pipes’, ‘magnet’ and ‘meteorite’. My reading has expanded to ‘industrial feudalism’; tracking empire and industrialisation. The pipes are corroded boiler parts, the magnet (industrial magnet) was a chance to play with diagram and paint, the meteorite was suggested by a meteorite stolen from Inuit people in Greenland by Robert E. Peary. The last images are a small sample of the rust porn at the place. So much big chunks of rotting metal and beautifully painted pipes and engineering. Artifacts of British empire, relics of industrial feudalism. Looking around I was struck by the enormity of it all, the massive amount of resources and human labour that went in - which circled back to my studies of William Blake’s descriptions of exploitation, slavery and degradation.
