This is exactly why I love exploring and developing new boulders or areas. There’s always a thrill in discovering an untouched crag. Exploring isn’t for everyone, it's often involves tough hikes and little reward, but sometimes you come across incredible lines like this one. After a full day of exploration, I returned a week later to clean the route, despite the rain, but never managed to go back with pads. Last weekend, I invited @larente_au_poste and @joana.bezeau.photographe to brush new lines and with the hope to climb this gem. The route is a mega line, with each move progressively harder, culminating in a crux on the final move. After missing the jug on the last move and taking a huge fall, I took a long break and eventually sent it! 💎 "Dance With The Devil" V9 FA ✅️. It’s definitely one of my favorite first ascents! This is probably the most striking slab I’ve ever touched. Not only for the movement but for its pure visual. A flawless black face, smooth as black ice. No texture, no friction, just a few subtle imperfections that somehow make it climbable. The number of different types of rocks and crag in Baie Comeau is insane! We check the already developed area and explore a lot to see the potential for the future. This slab is one of many things we stumbled across! Big thanks to @marteldominic20 and the other locals for the work done and showing us around! There's probably another 15 king lines to be open on that wall, which is probably around 100 feet wide. Another East Hereford classic in the bag! Pinnochio Low V11/12 — second ascent ✅ Gotta love those unexpected summer sends! Went in with zero expectations, got completely shut down on Hereford Traverse for 2 hours... then hopped on @larente_au_poste testpiece and somehow sent it first go from the start. I still remember when we first scoped it out after doing the stand start. We both tried a few moves and were like, “damn, this looks insane...” Fast forward 5 years later — we both ticked it. In July. 🥵 Hard to grade for sure — especially in summer conditions — but it felt like hard V11 or soft V12?
