Thank you to @ben.mcbee 📸for capturing the magic of this unusually grand and intense desk & to the @thepackengers for a successful transport from Paris. Shoutout to Mr and Mrs. R and Brian for their work in finding a great office for it. The previous owner lived just a few blocks from Notre Dame (go figure)!
The niches at the front corners are shown empty, but they are for displaying carved statues of saints - perhaps late medieval period ones the collector who ordered this desk in the 1890s would have owned…

The other day I talked a bit about the garage studio but today it’s all about the environmental or “editorial” portraits. Shooting on location is one of my favorite things to do. Sure, I love the clean control a studio provides and have a lot of fun there but - I really love the challenge of working in a new space. Here are some of my favs from the last few years.

From early 2022 to early 2023 I had a run of using my garage (or really any garage for that matter) as a studio. It was a fun time and a trickier environment than an actual studio. Some of them you can clearly see it’s a garage and some of them not. So I guess I mean to say even if you don’t have a space dedicated to creating don’t let that stop you.
