Heads up that this Saturday, May 16th there will be an interpreted performance hosted by Jobsite Theater, and they will be featuring DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, a powerful, straightforward, raw, and honest play. I won’t elaborate on it, but rather I will be offering a few hints with a few key signs, all with either the “X” or “Skinny C” handshape. 1) Bronx - the location is the Bronx, NY 2) Bar/doing shots/drinking alcohol - they meet at a bar 3) Risk/danger - they take the risk of trusting each other enough to open up 4) Trauma - the two of them carry a lot of baggage that continues to effect their personal lives In addition to these 4 hints, there lies questions: can love be both beautiful and dangerous? Are transcendence and destruction parallel to each other? Does this show answer those questions? Maybe yes. Maybe no. There’s one particularly powerful story…I can’t you the name of it directly…no no no that would be bad luck…you know which one it is, right? The so-called “Scottish Play”? Hmm? No?? Hang on a second! I’m not in a theater, so there won’t be any bad luck or curses for me. Alright, I’ll be brave and spell it out. Crossing my fingers anyway… 🤞{Macbeth}🤞 I’m fine. Whew! Nothing bad happened. Anyway, that play is a doozy! It tells the story of Macbeth and his many terrible deeds that eventually spiral out of control. One of those deeds was the murder of his close friend Banquo. (Demonstrates sign name) So, Macbeth murdered Banquo. Try to imagine if the spirit of Banquo came from the other side to tell his side of the story, feelings, and perspective. Wouldn’t you want to know what he had to say? Then you should come on down this Saturday [May 16th] to Straz Center’s Shimberg Playhouse at 2:00 PM to see a play “I, BANQUO” and see things through his eyes. Heya! You know we have been celebrating the Star Wars theme the last few days…2 days ago was “May the Fourth Be With You”, yesterday was May 5th aka “Return of the Fifth”, and now today is May 6th. Can we keep the Star Wars theme going?? Of course! If you have more, please share, but these 3 are my max! May 6th matches this phrase: “Revenge of the Sith!” The problem is that Dark Siders are not the best at spelling…they haven’t caught up on their spelling skill yet. I mean, they forgot the X. This SHOULD be “Revenge of the SIXTH!” Jkjkjk. It does make sense though when you recall that yesterday was Cinco de Mayo and a bunch of people chugged margaritas and some Mexican beer like Corona y Modelo and are FEELING that hangover. That hangover is basically the Revenge of the Sixth. Lesson learned! If you have more Star Wars days, let me know…don’t forget the theme outfit! The outer shirt is still following the Star Wars theme, plus today I visited a museum! Hey all! I hope you enjoyed your Star Wars Day yesterday on May 4th! I love it, being able to scroll online and see so many posts, sign vlogs, video clips, gifs, memes, and pics all following the Star Wars theme. I even saw a post from someone who ate Star Wars food at a restaurant! So cool! All these different ways to celebrate like the nerd I am were perfect. A question I have now: Is the Star Wars celebration over just because it’s May 5th? Let’s forget about it? Of course not! There’s more! Yesterday, Star Wars focused on the Jedi perspective and how they say “May the Force Be With You”. That’s a very Light Side type statement. However, there is another side…the Dark Side, the Bad Guys that create the counter and balance of the Force. Today is for them…May 5th can be called “Return of the Fifth!” The Dark Side is back! Today also coincides with Cinco de Mayo, the celebration of the Mexican city of Puebla’s victory over the French Army long ago. Good times! As we know, oftentimes people here {in the U.S.} get it confused and just celebrate by chugging margaritas but ignore the actual history. I am also wearing something that KIND OF incorporates both…Star Wars is definitely in the design, and the design mimics Mexican art. You can see Darth Vader here…Boba Fett here (idk his official sign name) The shirt design pay homage to Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), so there are subtle references to both the continued Star Wars celebration and Mexican holidays in one place. Hey everyone! I wanted to remind you about two interpreted shows this upcoming weekend. Both show are great! And different! But still great! The first show is FIDDLER ON THE ROOF which will be playing in Sarasota at the Asolo Rep Saturday May 2nd at 7:30 PM. It’s a beautiful story of a Jewish family and their faith, religion, community, and traditions. Truly wonderful, this will be Saturday, May 2nd at 7:30 PM. The second show will be on Sunday, May 3rd {3:00 PM} in North Tampa at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center. They will be showing EVERY BRILLIANT THING, the absolutely gorgeous story that highlights topics of mental health without being preachy or lecturing but rather by being heartfelt. You will be moved by it, I guarantee it. After the show, there will be an ASL social at the Chili’s nearby. You can go to both or just one! We wanted to give you the heads up and reminders about this upcoming weekend’s interpreted theater because both shows are EXCELLENT. This is because I have some important info to share. This is a PSA (Public Service Announcement) and it’s important for you to know so you can protect yourself, your art, your creativity. Firstly, I am not paranoid about ai since it’s widely-used. However, a new development with ai and TikTok in particular has been covertly rolled out for TikTok users across the globe without public announcement or direct, clear explanation. They basically made a huge change in the dark of night. What did they do? They have set it so that ALL of your videos and content can be harvested and remixed by ai. That includes your face/likeness, your signing, your voice, your music, your jokes, your art….EVERYTHING. It can all be collected and remixed by ai, and your likeness can be used to convey messages you don’t support. Did they request permission? No. It was a settings adjustment that was rolled out to everyone so their ai can access all your content. Fortunately, you can protect yourself, but it’s not easy. They made it extra-complicated so people would get fed up adjusting the settings for EACH VIDEO/POST. We all wish there was just one button to push to turn it off, but there isn’t. So, to protect your content, look at the video and see the icons along the right side of the screen: likes ♥️, comments 🗯️, etc. On the 3 dots “…”, click and proceed to the next screen. There are a few rows of options, but go down to the last row of gray icons and scroll to (hang on: FYI, I am describing the interface for my iPhone. If any of you have an Android or something else and it looks different, please add a comment or a video description.
