Experimental study on weaving 3D printed jasmine into traditional garlands 🤍
We spent a month developing this piece, slowly refining the shape, adjusting the weight, and hand weaving each element together with needle and thread. It was a very intentional and delicate process.
The result was not perfect. The piece became too heavy, the threads began to snap, knots loosened, and it slowly started to fall apart when suspended.
But I honestly found this process so rewarding.
It really deepened my appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and made me realise how much thought and refinement already exists in these methods. I would love to revisit this idea with a different approach, maybe working with handmade clay jasmine like those used in traditional garlands.
Sometimes going back to the basics feels like the most meaningful way forward.
I would really love to know what you think 🤍
Incorporating 3D printing with our traditional silks felt incredibly rewarding. This piece is truly one of one, as the silks we work with are never repeated, which made the process all the more intense and meaningful.
The pressure to execute it right was real… but so was the love poured into every detail.
I’m beyond grateful for the overwhelming response to this set. My team and I put our whole heart into it 🤍
