My name is Bella Adeleke, I am the Creative Director at Garbe and this is my entry as a semi finalist for the Green Access 2024 x TOMS Design Challenge.
At Garbe, we channel the rich history, vibrant music, diverse art, and dynamic culture of Lagos to craft designs that resonate with the soul and connecting deeply with the essence of the motherland.
Drawing inspiration from classic penny and brogue loafers, as well as the classic crochet knittiing technique. I re-imagined this Toms as an espadrille that takes structural style inspiration from the loafers and comfort of knitted wool to create a timeless footwear that can trasition from chic to casual and also accomodates people with high insteps (Like me)…
I truly hope to continue to inspire a future where fashion meets sustainability.”

Hi everyone today We are styling the Marina Set by @garbelife .
Inspired by Lagos’ most iconic business district, this set was designed for the woman who moves, elegantly and confidently with purpose.
The top draws from a classic Oxford shirt but with our own little tweaks. It is fitted at the waist, with a flounce hem.
The buttons are faux cowrie shells, a recurring detail in our designs because for me, cowries are emblem of wealth.
The skirt is longline, high-waisted, centre slit with piping that mirrors the collar of the top.
Available now in pink, blue and Adire, with more colourways coming. And yes you can purchase as separates.
What’s your favourite look?

Hi guys, if you’re new here, I am Bella Adeleke and welcome to the very first episode of my Style Series, where i break down the Garbe debut collection piece by piece.
On this episode, I will be talking about and styling the Silk T-shirt Blouse.
This piece started with something simple; I just really love a good T-shirt. That baggy, effortless, “I didn’t try but I look cool” energy? Obsessed!
So for our debut runway collection we wanted to stay true to our street/urban origin, take that feeling and make it luxe.
Enter duchess as our choice of fabric, Shoulder pads for structure and a frayed neck so it never feels too stiff or serious. Because I believe in little surprises, an eyelet cut-out at the back for a bit of pizzazz and functionality (breathability because lagos heat is not for the weak) was the right amount of unexpected needed to keep it smart but still casual.
The blouse is available in Chocolate Brown and Blush (which I am wearing) online and in store.
What was your favourite look?
Drop a comment and let me know which piece you want me to style next for you from the collection
