Every time I travel I try to bring home a book and something that smells good. It’s a fun way to remember places and I can always use another book or candle or perfume, right? 😂 Here’s what a found in Ely, MN this weekend…. A Leif Engel dystopian novel about a Lake Superior adventure and the importance of books and reading even when society is collapsing (or especially when?) AND two cabin inspired scents from @fivepinescandleco , a shop in Ely owned by the candlemaker herself! It was such a great experience meeting Heather and learning about her business. She has so many amazing scents to sniff… I could’ve stayed there all day. If you’re ever in Ely, make sure to pop in and say hi!
What do you like to bring home from trips?? I’d love to know! Also, I do not limit myself to these two things but my suitcase was already full! And yep, candles do get an extra screening so maybe don’t stuff them at the bottom of your carry-on like I did. 🙄😂
We took a little trip to visit my dad in Minnesota and spring is definitely arriving up north… saw loons, pileated woodpeckers, so many deer, and a wolf (ran in front of our car one day!) Plus the most beautiful sunset on Shagawa Lake. 🌅 Can’t wait to go back when in warms up and we explore even more. 🌿
Just restocked Citrine at @makerfolk !! It took me soooo long to find a lemon scent that I loved. A lot of times, they can lean too kitchen cleanery but not this one! The subtle notes of basil and lilac bring a light floral freshness to the tart zest of lemon. 🍋 It’s the perfect summer candle. Get yours soon!
I just checked this week’s forecast and there’s a winter storm warning 😬 !!! Right now is says we’re getting 5 inches of snow. Good thing I’m heading to the studio today to restock all the cozy bookstore scents. Also, good thing I was too lazy to put my starts in the ground yesterday. It’s never dull in Colorado in the spring!😂

Notes of teakwood, amyris, paper, and leather-bound books, this scent is reminiscent of cozy bookstores and old books. It’s unlike any of my other candles, so you have to go sniff it!!! And support our local bookstores! They’re all doing fun things for Indie Bookstore Day. Personally, I can’t wait to do a little book shopping! 📚
