Australian Opal Gin 💫 A vivacious collaboration between @archierosedistillingco and @nationalgalleryaus created to celebrate the iconic art of Linda Jackson @opallindaoz and Jenny Kee @jennykeeoz , and the NGA’s Gender Equity Initiative, Know My Name.
Know My Name is a national program that celebrates the diversity and creativity of Australian women artists throughout our history and to the present day. 7 years ago, the NGA acknowledged that only 25% of its Australian art collection, and 33% of its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection was by women artists. They committed to change this by establishing the gallery’s first Guiding Principles for Gender Equity in collection development, programming and organisational structures. Honour female artists. Seek out their art, listen to their stories, and know their names.
I feel so proud to have been a part of this incredibly special project, alongside each and every one of the incredible women that worked so hard to create it.
