Wedding Facts for one of the Earth’s Blue zones: In Ikaria island weddings do not have a guest list…that's because everybody is invited. It is being thought that since not too many people share the same island, even if you do not directly know someone…you do “know” him. There is no way to invite one and not the other…and that basis is in their DNA. Also the guests along with the couple spend the previous days setting up the entire wedding “venue” usually somewhere below the trees. Everybody enjoys this and there is no other way for a wedding to occur. The result is a mixture of all ages, celebrating along with our young couple, sharing the same wine, same food, same table, same dance floor and most importantly the same JOY. If I’m honest this is the way weddings should be…like all of them….celebrating a couple’s JOY…nothing more…nothing less…
