This are the heads that live inside of mine. The images that are drawn out from the landscape of my imagination through making random marks and drawing back into them to create something recognisable.
These are pen and ink artworks that merge automatic, instinctive mark marking with the process of refining through deliberate mark marking.
Surprisingly - since making them - I have seen a number of real life people that resemble these channelled faces.

Drawing through the insanity to get to some clarity ✍️💛
I conceive of art work as a constant work in progress, and I’ve been witnessing the unfolding of a new method since I started drawing a series of insane looking heads during lockdown.
The impulse is always the same. To be lead solely by the mark, without a predetermined idea of what I will draw. Instead, channeling energy and building line and form into what is emerging from the initial, uncensored and undirected marks.
This work in progress is moving me out of the ridiculous and toward the sublime as the drawings become more refined and coherent.
I’m loving the rigour and the surprises that are part of this artistic process.

The blue corn tortilla ice cream at #marysmilkbar was a delicious revelation.
Walked in on the making of some dark chocolate and walnut fudge at #fudgekitchenedinburgh that stirred up all my senses before I bought a take home bag to share that sweet sensation.
The self-induced-sugar-slump 🫠😋was worth the indulgence.

I enjoyed the best oysters 🦪 at #leftfieldedinburgh. Followed by an improtu and expertly curated whiskey tasting at #wildcatedinburgh. 🥃
#cafeandulaz served us plates of food where the delight of the produce was tasted in every bite.
At #TeauchersLanding we enjoyed generous portions of fish focused dishes; and we closed off our culinary touring at #mowglistreetfood where I thoroughly enjoyed my chip butty as highly suggested by @nickcummings .
