A big thank you to AFL.com.au, and in particular
@joshgabelich , for the beautiful write-up and for valuing the role this work can play in supporting AFL athletes.
In the midst of mental health challenges across the AFL, it’s so important that players know there are resources, support, and tools available beyond the four walls of their club. Mental health exists on a complex spectrum, and different tools resonate with different people - whether that’s traditional psychology, the coaching work I do around breathwork, mindset, meditation and visualisation, or another path entirely. Healing, growth, and personal development are never resigned to just one modality.
At the heart of it all, I believe what matters most is that individuals feel seen, understood, supported, and safe enough to be their most authentic and purposeful self. To express themselves and play the game with freedom. And to know that regardless of pressure, performance, or expectation, their self-worth or ‘enoughness’ is never defined by results.
My role is simply to provide a safe and sacred space for them to remember what was always there before life got in the way.
