I always wanted to be able to draw and make comics when I was younger. I played in bands with some seriously talented graphic artist like @owensherwoodillustrator and @matt_lafleur_taborton . I was never great at it but this song is one I wrote about that love for comics and comic characters and was my way of scratching that itch. @klosecrew plays some killer guitar on here and I got to go full ex-theatre kid with the dramatics on the keyboard. #comics #punk #garagerock

This is a preview of an up coming release we started working on over the summer. Weirdly, the majority of this song was recorded a few hours before I went to Albany Med where I stayed for over a week. I recorded the vocal parts knowing something wasn’t right, with no clue what it could be but was thinking all sorts of things and feeling all sorts of feelings. So hearing this song about love & survival (and zombies) completed is super special for me, and I have my good friend and super talented musician, recording engineer and mixer @sam_r_clement at @akinstudios to thank for it. This is a song Geoff and I started writing many years ago. It’s been on quite a journey with us. I played a punk version of it in a nyc band I was in called Skeletal Life, a folk-bluegrass version with the Hudson River Seadogs, a talented singer I knew in the city used to covered it at open mic nights just her and her acoustic guitar… now thanks in part to a killer saxophonist and friend @justinbirk and my brothers from Before The Warning, the (imo) definitive version of the song Geoff and I started creating many years ago will soon be mastered and released via @cacophonerecords along with another song that I’m particularly excited to share. Even though we didn’t win for best video, being nominated and going to the @eddiesmusicawards was a super cool experience. From @dbdebris opening the show to seeing our favorite record label @cacophonerecords take home the best record label of the year award, the night was chuck full of some serious talent. Big shout out to @goatsparrer for recruiting me to direct a video for a band I’ve known and loved since I was 15. It was a total love letter to the 518 and a labor of love that couldn’t have been done without @yasirkhanpakistan , @imgeeyourenot , @dirtystayouts_choppers , @thatcherstpub and of course @ashleymoak for the endless love and support of my crazy ideas and passion projects. #albanymusicscene #theeddiesawards

2024 we formed Before The Warning. It stared as a high school reunion of sorts. Relearning and revisiting songs we wrote as teenagers. In the span of four months we played three amazing shows at @thefuzebox , @adcobarandbottle and @ophelias.albany , recorded an album with the legendary Don Fury, released the album with @cacophonerecords , appreared on the @unsigned518 podcast and had an amazing @nippertown write up in the @dgazette . Huge thanks to @traumaschooldropouts , @the.sound.minds , @girthcontrol69 , and @blastcrazeband for sharing the stage with us this year. Plus @yasirkhanpakistan for the video collaboration work! And huge huge thanks to our crew of friends and family that came out to the gigs (tags as many as I could), bought the album and have been so so supportive! 2025, we’re kicking things up a notch. The reunion is over. We are going to be writing new music and we’re so excited to start sharing this next chapter with everyone.
