🌊Waves of Heritage🇮🇩 My performance at the Miss Ocean World 2024 Talent Show was a celebration of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage fused with a contemporary dance style. The choreography is set to a special remix of traditional Indonesian songs that I edited myself (i DID NOT produce the music), blending rhythmic movements with music from various regions of Indonesia, including: * Sik Sik Sibatumanikam from Sumatra Utara * Cublak-Cublak Suweng from Jawa Tengah * Ampar-Ampar Pisang from Kalimantan * Rasa Sayange from Maluku * Saman from Aceh * Yamko Rambe Yamko from Papua * Bubuy Bulan from Jawa Barat * Traditional Balinese music The dance flows between traditional and contemporary styles, creating a vibrant representation of Indonesia’s diverse cultural landscape. To deepen the impact of the performance, I included a visually stunning background video, featuring underwater scenes I captured while freediving and mermaiding in the pristine—and sometimes polluted—waters of Indonesia. The video showcases the breathtaking beauty of our marine life, from vibrant corals to playful mermaids, but also emphasizes the environmental challenges our oceans face, such as marine pollution. It also highlights my personal involvement in coral restoration efforts, reflecting my commitment to ocean conservation. Through this performance, I hope to inspire viewers to appreciate Indonesia’s cultural and natural beauty, while also raising awareness of the need to protect our oceans for future generations. ❤️

“Ocean’s Whisper” Live Act during @miss_scuba_international Talent Performance by Miss Scuba Indonesia 2024, drg Befalia Aisarahmadani Performing art is my passion, and as a professional dancer and professional underwater performer, i was trying my best to bring this powerful storytelling through dance, act, sing on the stage and the video i edited myself of me freediving in our beautiful country, Indonesia, as a mermaid in a mermaid costume i made myself (it’s 2.5kg heavy) so that all these skills that i pour into this artwork is not just to fulfil my heart, but also create impact, especially for the ocean. I created the storyline, and also the tail itself, with my design from @seadivatails , i used this tail before for Mermaid costume competition in Thailand in 2023 and also won 1st runner up with scars feature around it. The story is about a mermaid in the vibrant underwater world of Indonesia, dancing joyfully in Indonesia’s vibrant marine world, showcasing its breathtaking beauty. The dance suddenly shifts when I become ensnared in a fishing net, representing the entrapment of marine life by human activities. Through graceful yet struggling movements, I fight to escape, eventually breaking free, only to encounter the harsh reality of plastic pollution, nearly consuming it. As a speeding boat propeller injures me, symbolizing the violence inflicted upon ocean creatures, my mermaid form is left wounded and scarred. In a powerful transformation, I turn into a human, stepping onto land to deliver a vital message. With a final, heartfelt dance and the lyrics of *Colors of the Wind*, I call upon humanity to respect and protect our interconnected natural world. This performance serves as a compelling reminder of the urgent need for marine conservation. My performance is far from perfect, but im proud of how far i’ve become, Top 5 was not easy but i made this far. Thank you to all friends and family who supports ❤️🇮🇩

Our bodies are not born perfect. Even if they were, we might not perceive them as such. This video tells the story of the journey towards body acceptance. Each person has their own insecurities—about their knees, height, belly, thighs, arms, skin color, and more. They lack confidence because societal beauty standards, often portrayed on social media and TV, set unrealistic expectations. The story begins with Befalia, the writer, based on her true experiences. As an Indonesian girl living in the capital city, there were pressured to follow trends to be accepted by society, to be called normal and pretty, to get the opportunity, and to be called presentable enough. Conforming to beauty standards by masking her true self gave her a false sense of satisfaction. Unlike her siblings, she was born with tan skin and wavy, curly hair. Growing up with insecurities. From her teenage years until age 25, Befalia straightened her hair, wore colored contact lenses, used whitening lotion, avoided the sun, & applied heavy makeup daily. She felt comfortable in this fake look despite it not being her true self. It was disheartening to realize she only liked herself when she wore a mask, lacking the freedom & comfort to love her authentic self. And she knows she’s not the only one who feels that way. The video highlights that everyone experiences similar struggles in different ways, but water has the power to heal and help us accept ourselves and love our natural beauty. It emphasizes the importance of mutual support in this journey. “O” is a visually stunning production that showcases graceful underwater movements, capturing moments of vulnerability, empowerment, & self-discovery. It conveys a powerful message: everybody is inherently beautiful and deserves love and acceptance. This project is both a testament to the transformative power of water & a rallying cry for self-love & empowerment.
