So much has been said about the man and the music that touched an entire generation, since his unfortunate passing. I imagine the memories, testimonies, stories, renditions, gratitude, love and heartfelt condolences will continue to pour in as we collectively grieve this loss. An incredibly unique talent. With just a few hours left to catch this exhibit, I recommend this as the perfect way to spend a snowy Sunday afternoon indoors. An EPIC celebration and exploration of Alvin Ailey's brilliant works as dancer, choreographer, visionary, activist and collaborator. From legends like Katherine Dunham, Geoffrey Holder, Carmen de Lavallade, Pearl Primus, Lester Horton to the late great Judith Jamison, and more, Ailey's framework and style can fully be appreciated. A true visionary! The archival footage alone is worthy of the deep dive (I got lost in this for hours)! But enough can't be said about the bold imagery and looping soundtrack on full display surrounding the entire exhibit - incredible and deeply moving (especially if you have limited time). ♥️🙌🏿♥️
