We’re investing £150 million to future‑proof the #BeeNetwork and as part of that, there’ll be some closures across Metrolink this month.
We know closures are frustrating, so David’s here to talk through what’s happening and why this work matters for the future of transport in Greater Manchester.

Greater Manchester is on track to bring rail into the #BeeNetwork from December 2026. 🚆🐝
From new trains to station upgrades, contactless ticketing and step-free access – this is the start of a fully integrated transport system connecting trains, trams, buses and active travel.
From Saturday 16th to Friday 29th May, essential tram improvement works are taking place on the Rochdale line🔨
Further works will also take place in the Piccadilly Gardens area from Monday 25th to Friday 29th May.
These works are crucial to make journeys safer and more reliable for years to come and we’re really grateful for your patience.
