Ended out the birthday weekend with climbing down at Camelot. The lady in the lake and she's a witch gave the group some trouble as Patton and I worked with some easier trad claiming up jagged shelves!
Not all caves are created equal and and this particular cave shows out every way she can. From crystal corridors of gypsum blooms to sheets of fossilized coral showcasing entire rooms, there was always another surprise waiting around each passage.

Started Tonga Ridge to camp at Deception Pass then moved from Deception to Cathedral Pass and camped at Circle Lake to see a night full of stars. From Circle we hiked to Deep Lake for a swim and then ventured to Waptus to camp. From Lake Waptus we hiked to Ivanhoe and then camped at Williams lake. From Williams we bouldered up to Chain Lakes and to La Bohn Gap and Lakes for a lunch uptop the world. We straddled a switchback down into Necklace Valley to stay at Jade Lake. We hiked out after waking up at Jade Lake.
The Alpine Lakes Wilderness exceeded our expectations. We navigated rough terrain, traversed boulder fields, and conquered steep passes all to reward ourselves with star gazing ontop of mountains and dipping all ten toes in as many glacier lakes as possible!
I had to say goodbye to my best friend this morning as cancer took another beautiful soul from us. Bear Dog Hafer was truely a hound of all hounds, the bravest, most gentle of giants and I can't wait to give him a pup cup in the next life and tell him how great of dog he has been. I dont know how im going to do it without you buddy but I hope youre running as fast as you can chasing them squirls and flirting with the girls. I love you big guy and I can't wait to hold you again ❤️
