We have been working on this design for a new Suffolk house which is inspired by traditional rural forms of barns and foldyards. The house sits slightly elevated on a brick plinth within a brick wall set in a rewilded landscape. External domestic spaces are contained within the walled ‘foldyards’. Rooms are designed to maximise views across the Suffolk landscape. #suffolkarchitecture #newhouse #ecohouse #sustainablearchitecture
Planning approved for a new 3 storey brick and red zinc townhouse in Aldeburgh to replace an existing 2 storey house. The house sits on a tightly constrained roadside site so we incorporated external balconies with sea views to every level with extensive garden planters and a top floor panoramic roof terrace. Perforated brickwork provides privacy but allows in light and creates a trellis for climbing plants. The house steps backwards at each level to reduce its scale and impact. #aldeburgh #suffolkarchitecture #townhouse
We are very excited that our Angles House project has been shortlisted for the 2026 RIBA East awards. This is a contemporary home overlooking the Waveney valley with features to climate proof the house, enhance the site for wildlife and to generate its own energy to be as off grid as possible. U values exceed passive house. Each living space is carefully orientated to make the most of the views and access to the landscape. #ribaawards #ribaawards2026 #suffolkarchitecture #ecohouse
Works are almost complete on restoration and refurbishment of this grade 2* listed Suffolk hall. Working with Historic England and the local council we also added a very contemporary kitchen dining living space cantilevered over the pond. The deep red metal colour for the extension was inspired by the existing red brick and red roof tiles in order to maintain the colour palette. The new space gives panoramic views over adjacent countryside. #suffolkarchitecture #restoration
Works progressing on a highly insulated timber frame courtyard house we are working on for a private client in partnership with the charity Mencap. It features 6 en suite bedrooms and communal facilities which all look out onto the landscape but set around a communal outdoor courtyard. Repetition of plan and building widths along with simplification of frame and roof trusses has helped keep costs under control without compromising spaces or performance.
Planning has been submitted for this replacement dwelling. Highly insulated with mvhr, pv roof and air source heat pump. The design makes the most of field views to the front and the gables design reflects the dominant forms seen in existing village houses. #suffolkarchitecture #ecohouse
One of our smaller projects to convert the disused wing of this previously converted barn to add a wine room, cinema/ lounge space and a guest bedroom and en suite which was completed in time for use over Christmas. Lots of insulation used to minimise energy use and the roof was carefully restored. #suffolkarchitecture #eastsuffolk
This replacement dwelling has been submitted for planning approval in the Surrey Hills National Landscape. Twin wall timber frame and inspired by the gable ended tile hung houses seen locally. Its scale is carefully designed to diminish towards its ends. The two volumes are slid past each other to give as many rooms as possible triple aspect views into the landscape. The house features air source heat pump, photovoltaics, mvhr and battery storage as well as passive house levels of insulation. #surreyarchitecture #sustainabledesign
Balsa wood model for a feasibility study of a new house with annexes set within a walled garden in Suffolk. The gardens are contained with the house by the new walled garden divided into pleasure garden, flower garden and productive gardens. Beyond the wall the landscape is to be restored with woodland, wildflower meadows, wildlife ponds and hedgerows. Above the Suffolk red brick wall is a timber frame timber clad new family home. #suffolk #suffolkarchitecture #walledgarden
A visit this afternoon to see our clients 1 year after moving into their new house in Walberswick. Great views and a very comfortable warm home thanks to the passive levels of insulation and triple glazing. The garden room has a photovoltaic roof and heating is via an air source heat pump. We created a feature triple height dining space at the centre of the home with sea views. #suffolkarchitecture #walberswick
Our Angles House project in Suffolk has been awarded LABC best individual new home for the East of England. This is an energy efficient engineered timber frame highly insulated home designed to maximise views across the Waveney Valley yet minimise its presence and scale sat low in the valley landscape.
