Real, selfless love… for me.
As a little girl, I learned that love had to be earned…
that I had to perform, deliver, and be perfect to receive it.
But this man…
he loves me simply for my soul.
He heals my pain and my trauma.
His hand on my heart when I feel anxious…
his voice when I wake up from nightmares…
his calm when my mind spirals.
My whole life, my body has been in survival mode…
but for the first time, I am not surviving… I am living.
