looking back at CAN’T STAND ME NOW ⭐️ my contribution to this group exhibition was the poster design and concept! I wanted to take a second and explain my thoughts behind the tiny hand on the poster and in the space because I had so many great conversations about it at the opening :) last year my friend was looking for something in her handbag and I put my phone flash light on to help her find it. As the light turned on it revealed one of these tiny hands in the chaos of all the things a woman could possibly need in her bag. I took a photo and kept thinking what a great metaphor this tiny hand is for what is expected to be in a handbag and carried around by women: For all the things we manage, take care of and remember for everyone around us while always having to be warm, caring and kind. However, this hand is kind of useless and silly and unexpected and in the context of this exhibition a reminder break norms and expand beyond the expected! It’s about being allowed to be everything, about occupying space, about not reducing, not explaining, not pleasing. photos by: @friday.onfilm @wenkesz

CAN’T STAND ME NOW GROUP SHOW 28.03.-01.04.26 OPENING 28.03. 18H @backhaus_projects / Weserstrasse 168, Berlin @vegavicious_dj will be performing at the opening ⭐️ playtime 8–10H ⭐ @bedspace @ok_flem @lisarbizarre @beeeddyy @annarch.y @doing_so_fine @maschahau @luise__john @studioannafreitag @katereidyart @_interstells 🔥 Design and Artwork by @bedspace CAN’T STAND ME NOW is a collective exhibition that deliberately challenges conventional exhibition norms. The space becomes loud, full, physical, and demanding. Works grow into one another, overlap, form symbiotic relationships or exist in friction. Taking up space is a gesture against invisibility, restraint, and isolation, especially regarding women’s positions in contemporary art. The exhibition becomes a site of negotiation: how do works function together? Where does harmony flip into chaos? When does too much become exactly right? It’s about being allowed to be everything, about occupying space, about not reducing, not explaining, not pleasing. Abundance is embraced as a strength, both aesthetically and spatially. ________________________________________________SUNDAY 29.03. 16H COLLECTIVE EMBROIDERING // OF MOSS AND ECOFEMINISM MATINEE TALK An open and safe space for FLINTA* to come together, share perspectives of feminism, ecology, and our relationship to nature and how we’ve grown disconnected from it. A space to reflect on the current state of things, to process frustration or anger, but also to pause, breathe, and create a moment of care and grounding amidst everything that’s going on.
