Don't miss our upcoming webinar, 'Stop giving every learner the same literacy solution'.
This Thursday, Bedrock's Director of Education, Olivia Sumpter, joins Dr Tim Mills MBE - lead drafter of the DfE Writing Framework and DfE RISE Advisor - for a practical session on making better literacy decisions across your school.
Too often, intervention continues long after decoding and fluency are secure - while the real challenge is access to the academic language that shapes the curriculum.
That creates two problems:
- Some pupils receive support they no longer need
- Others never develop the language needed to succeed across subjects
In this live session, you'll learn:
- How to use reading data to identify the real barrier
- When intervention should stop
- What learners need next to access the curriculum successfully
đ Thursday 14th May
đ 4:00-4:15pm BST

Most schools canât answer this:
Are we using the right intervention with the right pupils - and stopping it at the right time?
That creates two problems:
1. Some pupils get support they donât need
2. Others never develop the language to access the curriculum
Thatâs why outcomes stall.
Students cannot access the curriculum without the language that shapes it.
Once decoding is secure, the priority changes:
â teach vocabulary, knowledge, and disciplinary reading across subjects
Weâre running a short session to show you how.
With Dr Tim Mills MBE, lead drafter of the DfE Writing Framework and Rise Advisor.

We had a brilliant evening at the Education Resources Awards last night.
Congratulations to all of the winners and finalists. We were proud to be shortlisted in two categories and to celebrate alongside so many people working to improve outcomes for schools and students.
While we didnât take home an award this time, the evening only reinforced what matters most: helping schools build strong literacy foundations, improve reading comprehension, and give every student better access to the curriculum.
Schools are facing rising expectations, stretched capacity, and the need for literacy that works across every subject. That challenge continues to shape everything coming next from Bedrock.
Keep your eyes peeled.
If your school is sharpening its literacy strategy, raising reading outcomes, or looking to build a stronger whole-school approach, we would love to talk. Head to the link in our bio.
Weâre delighted to share that Bedrock Learning has been shortlisted as a finalist at the Education Resources Awards for two categories:
đ Primary Resource or Equipment â ICT
đ Secondary Resource or Equipment â Tools for Leadership, Management & Assessment
To be recognised across both primary and secondary categories is something weâre incredibly proud of. It reflects the impact schools are making with Bedrock every day to build literacy, strengthen reading, and improve access to the curriculum.
The awards ceremony is tonight, and weâre very excited to attend. Wishing the best of luck to all finalists.
If you'd like to see why 1,000+ schools choose Bedrock, book a call with our team via the link in bio.
A whole-school literacy strategy lives or dies on implementation.
If you want clearer answers to:
- Who needs what support?
- Where are the gaps across departments?
- Is it making a difference?

Most schools have a literacy strategy.
Far fewer know if itâs working - or what to prioritise next.
Thatâs why we created our free literacy strategy audit for school leaders.
Itâs designed to take a forensic look at your literacy provision - helping you identify the specific barriers affecting students and respond with confidence and precision.
Audit your literacy strategy in four steps:
1. Complete the online diagnostic (10 minutes): Answer a set of focused questions about your schoolâs literacy provision.
2. Identify key signals: Receive a bespoke, benchmarked 20-page report highlighting strengths, gaps, and recommendations.
3. Join a 45-minute expert review: Forensically examine your results and identify the most important priorities with a Bedrock expert.
4. Plan your response: Leave with a clear, prioritised action plan to support a more effective literacy strategy.
No more guesswork.
Just clarity on what to prioritise - and how to successfully action that across your school.

What do âalligatorâ, âeyeballâ and âbedroomâ have in common?
Theyâre all words attributed to William Shakespeare - who is believed to have contributed over 1,700 words to the English language!
Next week is #ShakespeareWeek2026, and to celebrate, weâve created a free classroom poster featuring 30 key vocabulary items you can use straight away.
Download it via the link in bio.
Then simply:
1. Print it for your classroom display
2. Pick one word at the start of each lesson
3. Use it as a quick 5-minute âdo nowâ vocabulary activity
For example:
- Noun (e.g. âtragedyâ): ask each pair of students to find a synonym and an antonym
- Literary technique (e.g. âpathetic fallacyâ): ask each pair of students to create their own example to share with the class
Letâs make much ado about vocabulary this #ShakespeareWeek
