BLCF would like to take this opportunity to celebrate all the strong women in our communities – those who we collaborate with, those who are supported by the inspirational work from the groups in our communities, and those who we celebrate in our personal lives.
On this International Women’s Day, and across this Women’s History Month, we will be spotlighting the voices of women in our work. We will be hearing from women in leadership, sharing their inspirational words on their lessons learned and experiences in the sector. We will also be sharing the incredible work that organisations across Bedfordshire and Luton are delivering to help uplift and support women, whilst also raising awareness of the challenges women still face in our communities.
Today we hear from Karen Perkins, CEO of BLCF, who shares her thoughts on women in leadership in the VCSE sector:
“International Women’s Day is used as a moment to celebrate the achievements of women, but for the VCSE sector we witness this all year round. Women in the most senior roles show leadership and a strength of character to combat the daily challenges that charities face in order to provide the support and services that the most vulnerable in our communities need. Whether they are leading a national charity, running a local community group or simply volunteering, BLCF celebrate the power of women every day.”
Happy International Women’s Day to the women in our lives!
