you won’t need any experience or preparation: just a pair of headphones. in your ears, you’ll hear a guide track that you can sing along to, becoming part of a unique choir that only exists that day. together we’ll move through the space, sing, and perhaps even inspire the audience to sing along.

this project - ‘Dronechoir’ - is created by @missarone , one of my favourite singers ever. she’s also one of the most fun-inducing people, so I know this is going to be quite the ride. both the listeners and performers will get to explore the music for the first time during the performance. what an adventure!

one of my first tapestries, made by hand with a punch needle. i’ve been pretty shy when it comes to sharing my textile makings, but i think it’s time! let me know if you’re coming along for the ride- it would mean a lot to me!
this one shows a sweet memory of my friend @tilmanr hanging out with Allison and me in our garden. my feet up in the air. it was one of those happy days where we got to enjoy the sun when we took a break from working in the music studio.

This microtonal beast called ‘Manoeuvre’ will be performed again by Anne Veinberg and Ere Lievonen. I composed it in 2016 for the 96-tone Carillo piano and the 31-tone Fokker organ. A gorgeous puzzle in which hardly any microtones overlap. To make matters worse, it seemed a good idea at the time to base the entire piece on South-Indian rhythmical structures. I don’t think there is any other duo on this planet that would be able to perform this eerie piece of music.

flevopark with my wombat - busy editing live footage of @noplexus . hard to grasp we’ve been in canada, france and spain in the past 2 months. it feels so far away now it’s so winter’y here in amsterdam.
Watching Eddy Wu’s ‘Immature’ in a hotel room filled with strangers. An evening program of short movies in the nooks and crannies of Volkshotel. I like the tidal wave of perculiar little stories. And the people roaming through the hallways, wondering which room they’ll try out next. Also - ‘Als de huid vraagt’ by Merel van Norel is so beautiful and moving.
It’s the third year that I get to teach the art of songwriting. This time, as a way to keep things fresh, the students are coming as duos instead of individually. I like how it aligns with the autumn. There is an eagerness of shedding layers, a readiness to dig deeper. It makes me want to explore too.
𝕄𝔸𝕐 𝔹𝔼 - 𝘕𝘰 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘹𝘶𝘴 🟢 To get this orbiting effect right, we tested frame rates, timing, and even calculated how fast our camera assistant should run — yes, we went that far.
After tests at @cloudatdanslab and outside on the grass, we realized: over-planning kills the vibe. So we just went for simple clicktrack instructions but mostly to just flow — shoot, preview, shoot again.
Control vs. flow 🐂 They may be right? May… be.
