“Come, sit with me, my fellow traveler. Let’s sit together and watch the stars die. We only get so much time, don’t we? Ah, there was still more I wanted to do... How unlucky to have been born at the end of the universe.” - Chert, Outer Wilds To say I’m obsessed with this new tattoo is an understatement. A huge thank you to @dropdeadbz for taking my crappy sketch and turning it into this! I finished Outer Wilds a little over a year ago and the DLC very recently. It’s an amazing indie game that deserves so much more love and attention than it has. If you’re into puzzles, mysteries, space, existentialism and open world adventures: pick it up. Don’t look into it — just play the game.

If anyone ever asks why our team never wins higher than second place during trivia @servicebrewing it’s because our smartest member keeps falling asleep on the job, and not because we bet it all on a Savannah history question I was nearly positive I knew (brb quitting tour guiding after 4 years bc I’m a hack)

Some familiar friends at the lake this evening

Came out to Skidaway Island with my camera in the hopes of filming some wildlife. Unfortunately, it was so windy we didn’t even see a bird. Ended up taking iPhone photos of Snips after a passing group exclaimed “Finally! An animal!” Upon seeing her. I’m very proud of her today: it’s her first hike post op. I chose a trail that’s mostly flat and features a lot of wooden bridges. It’s the shortest loop on the island, but she still did a very good job. I carried her over the gravel parts because her other knee still can’t handle it and I don’t want to risk damage. Trying to hold off on needing another surgery for a few years. But she’s a little Viking warrior! There’s a reason her middle name is Astrid 😉

Evening at the lake featuring a blue heron, anhinga, and a rare doodle bird. You are legally obligated to ignore the bad haircut I gave her.

Today was bring your stone day at church. Unfortunately, I’m on day 3 of a migraine so I didn’t make it in person. But the concept was to take a stone and write how God has shown up in your life on the last 5 years. And honestly? The last 5 years have been both really rough and really great for me. Instead of trying to fit everything into one stone, I instead opted to quote the song “Firm Foundation” which says “I’ve still got joy in chaos, I’ve got peace that makes no sense.” This is actually in reference to Philippians 4:7 which says “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” I choose this verse because despite everything I’ve gone through in the past 5 years such as earning 2 degrees, moving 3 times, meeting some of the best friends I have ever had, struggling with my health, struggling with my finances, feelings of loneliness, feelings of failure, loss, and Snips’ surgery’. But, I’ve been…fine. I’ve not been joyful every day, and I’ve certainly cried and screamed my way through it (especially my thesis…both of them lol) but at the end of the day after re-dedicating my life to Christ through baptism in 2023 I have had an indescribable amount of peace through every storm. I’ve had people even comment on how calm I am when everything is falling apart. And, truthfully, the only reason I can fathom why is my faith. Having faith, especially when those around you don’t, feels surreal. You’ll watch someone panic over something small, meanwhile you’ll watch those who are faithful hold fast when their world is ending. I would never try to force my religion on someone, but I am always here to share my testimony. I know many of my friends have experienced deep hurt and hatred from religion, and I wish I could take that pain from them. I have had my own share of “church hurt” before. But Christ is not limited to the 4 walls of building. You will find Him in nature, in community, in art, and; for me, a frog. Yes my little tree frog had to go on the rock lol! Matthew 6:34 is also written on the side. But I digress…Happy New Year! What good things have happened for you in the last 5?

12/23-12/24 activities included seeing Jackie whose returned to us all the way from Providence, RI! We went to the @coastalgeorgiabg gardens to see their light display and she gave me two awesome gifts she made. A belated birthday present: the sock puppet of Snips that Snips *totally* doesn’t hate, and a “The Last Pupper” watercolor of all of our dogs (+ a porch possum as Judas). Finished off today by making treat bags for the neighbors and attending the candlelight service at church. Ignore that my singing is slightly obnoxious; in my defense, the lady next to me said she liked it. I’m just loud 😂❤️ Merry Christmas Eve my friends!
