Just had to post a couple more pics as it was so nice to see the final outcome of this wig in these images and on screen.
Last image shows the inside of the wig, ready to send to designer @diandraferreira_ and first 2 pics are from Kizzy’s makeup artist who cut, styled and applied @sorchamakeupartist and what a great job she did!
Heartstopper is such a fantastic show for young, queer people and I’m so happy to have been a small part of it.

Another commission from hair and makeup designer Diandra Ferreira of Heartstopper 2 who also fitted it and took care of Tao. Not to drop a spoiler but in order to shoot scenes pre and post haircut, Tao / Will Gao donned a piece that allowed the hair and makeup team to match continuity.

This wig was commissioned by hair and makeup designer Diandra Ferreira and once I’d finished she cut and added root shade so the final look is pretty indistinguishable from the first season. This was such a great production to be a part of- thanks for having me Diandra!

Just a post to show where wigs start. This is a head wrap- it’s a replica of a person’s head and is used to capture the details of the shape and size required of the eventual wig.
Capturing these details is incredibly important for a wig maker, and in turn for the production or individual...so the wig fits!
In case it’s useful for anyone who doesn’t realise the process or importance of doing a great wrap I thought I would pass on the lessons and tips I’ve picked up and can attest to the importance of...
• Hairline- expose this in a natural way (ie hairspray hair away from hairline, exposing how it naturally lays) and wrap the hair the way the wig will most likely be fitted. Emphasise with an eyeliner that contrasts with the persons skin so it will show through easily at the end
• Clingfilm- one layer preferably. Over the head with ends pulled down by the ears, try not to scrunch but fold gently and neatly so no details are hidden under layers of the film
• Sellotape- preferably a clear tape and TWO layers. Start going left to right, ensuring every strip of tape is overlapping, then front to back same again. Not doing enough means the shape can easily rip when it’s transferred on and off a block and when padding
• Details- trace all details, including ears, eyebrows, and exact hairline with a sharpie which you then cover/secure with sellotape again so it won’t rub off. Ears and eyebrows help to align the shape onto a block later
• Measurements- ALWAYS record the necessary series of measurements. Wig makers shouldn’t really be given a head wrap without them- they are necessary to ensure the head wrap isn’t distorted or changed in transit or once it’s on a block and are needed to constantly refer to
• Galloon- a new addition for me, picked up from @skulltressmasterclass and a game changer. The galloon secured around the circumference with tape ensures that the wrap again, doesn’t distort
• Photos- always take photos of the client/actor to refer to especially if you are creating a replica of someone’s own hairstyle. Clear, in focus front, back, sides, top, hairline etc before and during the wrap. Plenty of them!
