Years ago, I saw an exhibition that featured a portrait of Sir Trevor McDonald, I remember saying to myself, what a incredible privilege it must of been to be able to capture such an iconic person and how much I’d love to do the same some day.
Growing up there were hardly any Black British professional people on TV, and living in a multicultural, diverse, multifaceted society, the lack of representation was noticeable.
Seeing Sir Trevor McDonald on TV reading the news every night, told every black boy and girl that they are capable of achieving more than just a career in sports and showed us that we belong here too.
As difficult as the pandemic was, it allowed me to focus on what I would like to achieve and forced me to start planning a pathway to manifest those dreams.
