My first time using a camera. This project started without any intention to prove anything, just a desire to portray something honest, something simple, but somehow deeply meaningful. With Awar we spoke a lot about the idea of “home” for the past year, not just as a physical place, but also as something internal. We couldn’t agree more to go back to Antigua, a place that shaped me in ways I’m still understanding today, to shoot this project. It has been a physical home for my entire childhood. The light, the colors, the rhythm of life, the feeling of space. All of it always stayed with me. However we travel countless amounts of times in this fashion industry, so much that it’s easy to lose track of home. But home is also a feeling you carry within you, a sense of calm, of grounding. It’s a state of mind that you can reach thanks to the people surrounding you. You know there’s a kind of friendship where everything softens, where you don’t feel the need to perform, where you can just have the freedom to be yourself. That’s what we had, and that’s what I wanted to hold onto. I tried to capture something intimate, something real, something that feels exactly like home, both physically and internally. Back in Antigua, where it all started for me. Capturing @awarodhiang in these intimate and peaceful moments was a blessing. I wanted to portray the feeling of home. Something both physical and internal, a profound sense of freedom and calmness. My favorite image from this project. Taken under the red lights by the beach, the ones used to protect the turtles, to preserve something fragile without disturbing it. Awar and Nepapery, together, in Saint Laurent. No performance, no distance just presence. Just a quiet, instinctive connection that didn’t need to be explained. By that point, everything had slowed down. We weren’t thinking about the images anymore, or the project, or what it needed to become. We were just there, holding onto the moment as it was unfolding. It felt like everything we had been searching for naturally came together in that scene. Family, friendship, protection, intimacy, and that sense of being grounded without even realizing it. There’s something about being with someone who knows you completely, who shares your history, your roots, your way of being. It creates a kind of safety, a space where nothing needs to be justified. Maybe that’s what stayed with me the most. Not just the place, not just the light, but that feeling of being held by the environment, by the people around you, by something deeper that you can’t fully define. Awar and Nepapery, There’s something about family that doesn’t need to be explained. It’s about being next to someone who knows you beyond what you show to the world. Someone who’s seen every version of you, and holds all of them without judgment. In that kind of connection, there’s no distance, no performance. Just a sense of ease, of calmness and of pure love. In a world where we’re constantly moving, constantly adapting, family becomes a kind of anchor. A place you return to, even when you’re far from it. Being there, in Antigua, capturing the close link between two sisters all brought us back to something essential. Maybe that’s what home really is. This is the first image we took in Antigua. Captured at halfmoon bay, as the waves were crashing against the rocky surface, and the sun was setting. The moment Awar stepped into that light with a kind of ease that felt completely natural, I gagged. It all became quiet. Simple. Almost instinctive. There was nothing to prove, nothing to construct, just a feeling of joy. A kind of joy that comes from being fully yourself, without effort, without distance. In that moment, everything felt soft. The air, the light, the way she moved. It wasn’t about the dress, or the image, or even the project yet, it was about capturing something real, something that couldn’t be repeated. Starting this story there, with that exact energy, felt right.
