🏆 Big news! We're thrilled to share that the Wheaton Walk Through Time has received a Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Award of Excellence!
If you’ve ever walked around the Earth Sciences Building, you may have encountered this incredible outdoor teaching tool. Visualizing billions of years of time isn’t an easy task, but now you can literally walk through time– each step you take is equal to 100 million years (WOW – time sure does fly!) From the formation of the first continents and the chilling “Snowball Earth” event to the sudden burst of complex life, every segment of the path highlights a milestone that shaped the world we inhabit today. A huge thank you to everyone within EOAS, the Pacific Museum of Earth, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, and PWL Partnership Landscape Architects who helped bring this exhibit to life, and especially to Wheaton Precious Metals for making this vision possible.
Come walk through 4.5 billion years of Earth history right outside our building! 🌍
Congratulations to the team behind the award-winning Wheaton Walk Through Time project on receiving the CSLA Award of Excellence!
Connecting the @pmeubc and the Beaty Biodiversity Museum, this incredible project transforms 4.5 billion years of Earth’s history into an immersive and accessible public learning experience.
Special congratulations to our Manager of Exhibitions, Derek Tan, for being part of this outstanding achievement and helping bring science, storytelling, and design together in such a meaningful way.

UBC botanist Dr. Bridgette Clarkston did. She and her UBC Botany students are teaching Seaweed School on Hornby Island.
UBC outreach is shoring up science education on Hornby Island — and having ripple effects.
