Little storytime for you… when I was 18, I got an email from Summer Walker about a beat I posted on YouTube being sampled and used for the record - Girls Need Love. Summer was brand-new at the time and I was young and didn’t know the value of points and splits so I traded it all for a one-time payment/ work-for-hire fee lool HUGE REGRET. No fault of anyone but myself, I should have read that contract.
Either way I’m still proud to be a part of such an amazing record, and this should be a lesson to all new producers to never sign away any ownership, cos you’ll never know how far they can go!
