In ancient Slavic beliefs, they guarded the thin line between worlds.History & OriginsAs early as the 6th century, Procopius of Caesarea noted that Slavs worshiped "rivers and nymphs." Historians like A. Gieysztor identify these as the ancient Brzeginie—one of the oldest documented figures in Slavic spirituality.Symbolism of the ShoreDerived from the word bergъ (shore). They inhabit the liminal space: the meeting point between land and water, and the world of the living and the afterlife (Nawia).Our InterpretationA modern variation of the Brzeginia.
