Every single day I read about, talk about, and learn about the podcasting space.
My clients get the insight first - but what then?
Until now, it’s mostly stayed in my notes, or in the studio, or on calls/decks/emails…
But I’ve been feeling the need for a space where I can share more of it.
Because the podcasting space is growing at a rapid space right now. Not just with new shows - but new industry players, big media moves, new trends, new tech, more tips and endless shifts.
And what’s the point in learning all of the above, if I’m not sharing it as I go?
@bearlaneproductions will continue to be the place for celebrating our client work and all our business ventures.
But this? This is me, Producer Sophia, sharing the rest.
If you’re into podcasting, IN podcasting, or want to really understand the space - we’ll get on just fine. Maybe hit the follow to see what happens!! 🤭
Because here we don’t gatekeep(!!) I’m sharing the tools I use every single day as a video producer 🎬
10+ years in broadcast taught me that great production isn’t just about talent - it’s about having the right systems behind you.
Not sponsored (lol could you imagineeee) just what actually works.
Anything in your workflow I should know about? Or any of these you can’t get on with?! Pls share! 🎧
I was planning on devouring a load of podcasts the last week or so - but a sickness bug had other plans so me and the TV became veryyyy familiar.
Here’s what to watch IMO right now. Spring telly is doing bits!! 📺🍿🎬🎥🎞️
The final product always looks polished BUT this is what it looks like, from where I’m standing (well… sitting) 🎥🎙️🔦
Every cable, every light stand, every slightly chaotic angle - this is the part I love just as much as the finished episode.
This is podcast production. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Our founding father @alexandracooper is having the week of her career and I cannot stop talking about it.
From a Secret Loves of Morman Wives exclusive on Call Her Daddy, to Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary, and the brand new series Love Overboard - three massive moments all in one week. All built on the back of a podcast she started in her NYC apartment?! WILD!
This is exactly why I believe in long-form content. Swipe to see why this week matters 👉
The podcasting graveyard is full of great ideas that just weren’t set up properly, and it’s heartbreaking to see!!
But the reality is, I see the same 5 mistakes every single time - swipe through and send this to anyone who needs it 🎙️
For everyone who’s ever been told “it’ll be great exposure.”
Exposure doesn’t pay rent.
Visibility doesn’t cover bills.
And “you’ll get so much from this” is not a contract.
Your skills are not a favour.
Your time is not a gift.
And your talent is definitely NOT free.
The people who truly value your work will never ask you to prove it for free.
If the only leverage they have is what they might give you one day - that’s not an opportunity.
That’s a trap.
Your worth isn’t negotiable. Neither are your bills.
Set the boundary. Send the invoice. Know your value 🫶🏼
