For ENCODED, our unsanctioned exhibition at the @metmuseum we are deeply honored to collaborate with Bear Fox (@bearfox34 ) — whose voice grounds us as we enter the atrium of American Wing, inviting us to walk together with a good mind.
“Hanio Kats Tewathahatita means, “please walk on a good path with me with a good mind.” It reflects the spirit of Bear Fox’s music, as an invitation to journey together with kindness, balance, and intention.
Growing up on a small farm as the youngest of fourteen children, where the natural world was both a playground and teacher, music flowed through Bear Fox’s family life: her mother playing harmonica and piano, her brothers Roy and Ronnie singing traditional songs with their guitars, and her sister Betty’s voice carrying her to sleep at night. These early influences nurtured her love of song and rooted her in the power of music as a way of healing, remembering, and connecting.
Her family’s example planted the seeds for her own musical path: one that honors tradition, embraces language, and continues to grow in harmony with the land and community that raised Bear Fox and her own family.”

The 4th Annual Akwesasne Freedom School Benefit is happening this weekend here at White Feather Farm! This beautiful evening celebrates the Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) language immersion school in Akwesasne Territory, a grassroots movement that receives no government funding and relies entirely on community support.
100% of proceeds of this event go directly to keeping this vital school running. We're talking about Indigenous-led education, cultural revitalization, and preserving language for future generations.
