Blog Tour: Affidavit of Loss by Christine V. Lao
Affidavit of Loss is probably one of the most thought-provoking and heaviest poetry collections I have ever read. I am speechless once I finished the book and reflect on it. It talks about politics, violence, justice, grief and many more.
I learned a lot from the hurtful truths and the end notes added the pain. The poems are profoundly emotional. I love how candor and beautifully written it is. Do I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY. Eat ice cream once you are done.
My favorite poems:
- The Loyalty of Things
- Oplan Triolet
- Self-Love
- Collateral
- Ignorance of the Law Excuses No One
I would like to thank Atty. Lao, UP Press and The Filipino Shelf for the opportunity to be part of this blog tour. #AffidavitofLoss #thefilipinoshelf #TFSAffidavitofLoss
My first entry for #StanAsianAuthors2026 hosted by two of my favorite people in the bookstagram community Eunice of @nerdytalksbookblog and Ate Kath of @kath_reads . They’ve been doing this month-long readathon for 7 years and I always look forward to it.
Maid Sama by Hiro Fujiwara is on my tbr for more than 5 years and I love its anime adaptation. I can’t believe this doesn’t have a second season (it’s a CRIME). Misaki Ayuzawa is a student council president who leads a male dominated school. She’s tough on the exterior and always disciplined. Boys find her intimidating but no one knows that after school, she works as a maid cafe. Then there’s Usui Takumi, the heartthrob who discovered her secret and their love story goes on.
I LIVE FOR THIS GRUMPY x SUNSHINE, ENEMIES TO LOVERS ROMANCE BETWEEN THESE TWO. Usui, stop making us swoon over your antics. The story is so good and I devour each moment. I am continuing the rest of the series because it’s lighthearted, funny and absolutely romantic. SWOON-WORTHY. Ok enough the yapping. I rave too much. It’s just the perfect manga for me to relax while on vacation.
Please give me more book recommendations like this. Thank you so much!🥰 #StanAsianAuthors7
Marcus Kliewer’s debut horror — We Used to Live Here is impressively haunting. I remember listening to the audiobook two years ago and it didn’t put me to sleep. I am currently reading his latest novel — The Caretaker (Thank you Atria/ Edelweiss+ for the advance copy!) and so far it is gripping.
