Arlington Hill: @beam.arc reimagines industrial legacy. Situated at 503 Communipaw Ave, Jersey City, this newly constructed multi-family building is a testament to the integration of industrial heritage and contemporary design. Through the creative use of materials, textures, and carefully curated furnishings, the building pays homage to the city's industrial past while providing residents with a fresh and inviting living experience. Behind the scenes at 147 Stanhope. Urban building development isn't always straightforward. With the challenge of underpinning, we had to synchronize efforts across architects, engineers, and reps to redefine the foundation and tackle structural limitations. Innovations like stepped footing helped save costs and create room for utilities and storage. Originally aiming for more rooms, we switched gears to fewer, spacious, light-filled units for a quality living experience. “The Bridget” is a new church-to-residential project designed by @beam.arc Our design adds a sense of modernity and intrigue to this historic century-old building. As you step inside, prepare to be captivated by the carefully restored ribbed vaulted ceilings and gothic-stained windows. Dotted throughout Jolly Early Education, there are “trees”.  These tree-inspired columns serve a triple purpose. First, they advance the biophilic theme, incorporating nature into the classroom. Second, they act as an additional source of lighting. And third, critically, they function as an innovative solution to integrating existing columns, which are a structural necessity.  Using the original columns as trunks, we layered green discs and round flush mount lights to form the tree’s crown. Designing for children is equal parts technical and imaginative. Jolly Early Education was brought to life by a team that blends technical expertise with creativity. We asked members of the BEAM team to reflect on their favorite parts of the project. For designer Naftali, it was the globe pendant lights in the hallway: “They double as ‘smoke’ rising from the chimneys of the house-shaped features in the hallway. It was especially rewarding to watch that moment of realization: at first, the pendants seem like simple decorative elements, but as people walk down the hallway, they begin to see the story unfold. Jolly Early Education’s hallways foster a sense of home. Whimsical house facades frame the doors lining the hallways. Each house, complete with mini windows and functional doors, creates an immersive environment that blends the familiarity of home with educational play. Jolly Early Education by @beam.arc The sizable reception space serves as the central hub within Jolly Early Education. Due to its prominent position within the facility, the reception area sets the tone for the entire daycare. We designed it to fulfill multiple functions including welcoming families, engaging children, and facilitating the flow of students and staff as they transition between activities. 142 Clymer: Laundry Room and Passover Kitchen Combining the white from the kitchen cabinets with warm gray cabinets, the laundry room creates a fresh and inviting space. Various shelving, hanging, and storage options maximize functionality. The Passover kitchen, concealed behind a removable wall system when not in use, unveils a monochromatic design featuring the warm gray slab-style cabinets from the laundry room and a dimensional tile backsplash.
