Slow blues improv. Was instinctively gonna start playing as soon as the solo started, but glad that I waited. Opened the solo with the beginning quote of Aretha Franklin’s “Today I Sing the Blues” which helped shape the direction of where I wanted to go.

Can’t believe I’m starting to live a life filled with music. I can’t wait for the rest of it 🙏🏻

Hey Van friends! Many of you know me as guitar guy but I am also a big lover of bass. I’m incredibly inspired by this instrument and its role in a band context and I wanna let all the pals know I’d love to play bass on your gig/song! I love playing all genres especially soul, blues, jazz, and country. DM me if you’re looking for a bass player for anything :)

Had a great time playing my first trio gig with @tylerrossmurray and @cavalierisa ! I’m trying to really just follow all instincts and it’s leading me down a path of playing that feels unique to me! I’m noticing I like rhythm displacement a lot which is something I had never noticed - but it makes sense as it feels like a way to add spice without getting into the weeds of playing super “out” which doesn’t appeal to me so much. It’s all a journey but it’s interesting when your instincts start to change but still feel like yourself. We’re all growing!
