Join us on June 7 for BC’s largest family fun run and be part of something mighty at @RBC Race for the Kids.
For over 40 years, runners, walkers and families across the province have come together to support the kids and families who count on BC Children’s Hospital. This year, we’re ready to make it bigger, brighter and more impactful than ever.
Whether you’re racing in Vancouver, Victoria or virtually from your own community, every step you take helps fund the areas of greatest need at BC Children’s; from life-saving research to critical mental health supports and specialized care. Together, we can build healthier futures for kids across BC and the Yukon.
Register today through the link in our bio. Let’s make every step count.
Never doubt what small can do.
Big things come from small beginnings. Everything groundbreaking or world-changing starts this way. The kids we help may seem small, but they face huge challenges. A sample of cells in a petri dish is small, but it could be the key to the next big breakthrough. You might think your impact is small, but your support could be just what we need to push the next medical advancement over the finish line.
Together we’ll show the world: Small is mighty. #SmallisMighty
Some people come into your life during the hardest moments and leave a lasting impact forever. For Shepherd’s parents, Cordell and Karen, that was the nurses at BC Children’s Hospital. After one incredible nurse helped carry them through the beginning of their journey, they wondered how anyone else could possibly compare — but every nurse they met brought that same compassion and care.
This National Nursing Week, we’re celebrating all of the nurses who help kids and families feel that they’re never alone
Being a pediatric nurse is more than assessing patient health and administering treatments. It’s bringing comfort during frightening moments, remembering the little things that make kids smile, and helping families feel supported through some of the hardest days of their lives.
To the nurses who help BC’s kids breathe a little easier every day, thank you 💙
When Emmett was born, her moms Lana and Lena didn’t know what the future would hold. Now, every “hi mom,” trip to the park and holiday together feels extra special thanks to the care and hope they found at BC Children’s Hospital.
This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the incredible strength, love and resilience of all the patient moms and caregivers walking beside their children every step of the way.
Simon lives with Morquio syndrome (MPS 4A), a rare, progressive genetic disease that affects his bones, joints, heart, lungs and more. Since he was young, he and his family have made regular trips to BC Children’s Hospital for treatment and ongoing care to manage mobility difficulties, hearing loss, daily pain, and other complexities.
Through it all, Simon continues to show up with determination, humour and heart. Whether he’s playing sports, spending time with his siblings or participating in RBC Race for the Kids with his family, Simon is helping show other kids that there’s no one way to participate and no one way to move through the world.
Whether you walk, roll, run, volunteer or donate, every participant helps support kids and families across BC.

Just two weeks after Calum was born, his parents rushed him to BC Children’s. He was admitted to the PICU, where his family learned the hospital would become home for weeks. While doctors searched for answers, Calum’s lungs collapsed. A large team rushed into action to stabilize him and save his life.
Grateful for the care they received, his family knew they wanted to give back.
Inspired by the fairy gardens his mom and sister admired on walks near the hospital, Fairy Garden Trail Vancouver was born; an event filled with creativity, community and a little bit of magic.
On June 27, Vancouver schools will unveil fairy garden installations at VanDusen Botanical Garden’s Great Hall, alongside fairy performers, live animals, hands-on activities, a Fairy High Tea and a special performance by DJ Rock’N’Beau.
It’s a chance to experience something magical while supporting the hospital that continues to care for Calum and kids across BC and beyond.

At BC Children’s, care goes far beyond hospital walls, reaching kids and families across more than a million square kilometres of this province. Many will never step inside the hospital, but they’re supported every day through virtual care, community programs and partnerships with providers close to home.
In Shine magazine, you’ll see just how far BC Children’s reaches, and how much further we can still go. It’s a goal we work toward every day.

Audrey’s journey with BC Children’s Hospital started as a patient. After facing two rare illnesses, she spent time in care working toward recovery, even learning to walk again, supported by a team that guided her through one of the most challenging moments of her life.
Grateful for the care she received, Audrey entered a new role as a volunteer at RBC Race for the Kids last year. Audrey was determined to give back to the community that once stood behind her, helping ensure other kids and families receive the same care, compassion and hope she did.
