Week seven was hosted by Centennial College, (@centennialcollege ) aviation, our young participants delved into a hands-on exploration of private jet aircraft.
From touring the sleek interiors of these jets to examining the intricate workings of their engines, our youth gained invaluable insights into the world of aviation engineering.
In a culmination of their learning, they put their newfound skills to use by crafting phone case holders from sheet metal, adding a personalized touch to each creation!✨

🚨 Exciting Update Alert! 🌟 Our Black Youth in STEM Program just concluded two action-packed weeks (9 and 10) of biomedical science adventures alongside York University’s Science Engagement Department @yorkuscix .
In Week 9, our phenomenal youth immersed themselves in the art of stitching wounds firsthand, followed by an exploration of the vital role of the circulatory system in both humans and animals. The journey continued as they delved into biology by dissecting pig hearts, with some participants honing their skills by practicing stitches on the hearts.
Week 10 was an exhilarating extension of Week 9, featuring a diverse range of activities. The youth delved into mouse dissection, prosthetic limbs, and the fascinating world of microscopes and foldscopes. Collaborating in groups, they took on the challenge of designing prototypes for prosthetic legs using innovative materials. Later, they dove into the microscopic realm, examining cells through both traditional microscopes and foldscopes.

Thanks to their generous partnership, the Black Youth in STEM participants had an incredible opportunity to dive into the fascinating history of Toronto Pearson Airport. They embarked on an eye-opening tour, understanding the history of Pearson Airport and exploring the heart of aviation right here in our city! 🛫🌆
With the Greater Toronto Airports Authority's backing, these budding scientists and engineers engaged in hands-on workshops, sparking creativity and curiosity in the world of STEM!
