ONE YEAR OLD

This is so late.
Declan is 19 months now..
I want to post more and be better about it, but it’s just not at the top of my Dad List.
Declan is everything Em and I could have hoped for in a first born. He’s adventurous, sleeps well, eats well, and loves being with people. He goes everywhere with us and is always a good sport! He’s making friends and going to new places all the time! And unlike back at his actual first birthday, he now is preparing to be a Big Brother. His sister should be here just before he turns 2!
I promise to share more. The good and the bad.. all of it.. being a Dad is everything I wanted.. and I want to be able to look back and have those posts and pictures.. like the boxes of film I still thumb through of my childhood. The outfits, the people, the posed and the candid. It’s all worth having and remembering, it just can’t take priority over being in the moment when it happens. So now my obligation of his first 12 months are complete.. and I have the freedoms to just post what I want and when I feel like it..LFG

But life has been a lot like this lately for me. Except I’m no longer in the middle, I’m on the left, your first daughter-in-law @em_touche is on the right, and grandson number one, Declan, is smack dab in the middle. He is pure joy, and my total ‘sonshine’. You were right, you see things differently as a parent, not that I doubted you.. but I think it’s just something I had to experience to see clearly. You would love him. He knows your name, he’s had your banana bread, he’s seen your pictures, and I barely make it through reading your copy of “I’ll Love you Forever” to him. And rest assured that as he gets older I’ll tell him all the good stuff about you.. cause let’s be real.. that’s all there is.
