On his late-2024 debut, the artist @bbpue utilizes cheap equipment and the iPhone app BandLab to create a sonic environment that is both homespun and familiar. Rather than keeping the listener at an arm's length, his strain of IDM-infused slacker rock welcomes them in.

Pure Sky feat. bbpue – Minnesota born, Brooklyn based musician, Buyee drip-haver, and knower of Ridgewood’s finest eats. bbpue emerged in 2023 with his ambient forward album ‘2018-2023,’ and has since released a self-titled album that landed him in NYC’s DIY indietronica scene. With tracks that are just as outwardly energetic as they are introspective, bbpue’s glitchy sincerity shows the art of an evening spent switching between dancing like nobody’s watching and holding back tears in the club bathroom (while playing on a Game Boy Advance SP). Adorned by 8-bit soundbites, softly distorted vocals, and retro synths, songs like ‘Stacy’ and ‘Forever’ are well worth your time.
